The idea for Catnip Acres was born thirteen years ago when Carol Pultorak began working as a volunteer at the local animal shelter in Greene County. Carol soon became aware of the second class status assigned to cats in shelters, she became determined to reduce the number of cats euthanized.

Carol began by taking a single cat to the Pittsburgh spay and neuter clinic. That single cat was the beginning of a lifelong commitment which developed into Catnip Acres.

Founder and President Carol Pultoraks’ dream became an official non profit 501(c)3 organization in April of 2007.
